The Magic Fountain (Font Mágica) is situated close to Plaza Espanya and for the last decade has been one of the best open-air attractions of the city. The Magic Fountain performance is a spectacular display of lights, colours, music and water that results in pure magic. The water seems to be dancing at the rythm of the music making this experience unique and unforgettable.
The performances start at sunset, in order to emphasize the contrast of cloured lights and make it more spectacular to observe. The schedule depends on the time of the year.
Some history: The Magic Fountain was built in occasion of the 1888 World Congress in the Ciutadella Park location. However, it didn’t attract the expected amount of attention, and was reproducted for the 1929 World Expo in the current location at Plaza Espanya and Montjuic.
