The construction of the Collserola tower has begun in 1990 and was inaugurated during the month of June 1992, in the ocasión of the Olympics. The tower, situated in the Sierra de Collserola in the Barcelona surroundings, has the total height of 288m. The complex consists of the tower and a supporting building for the installations of the tower. The tower’s tenth platform is operating as a Public Observatory (Mirador). You can access this Mirador from the inside of the mountain with an exterior panoramic elevator, whose 1m/sec speed takes the visitors to the observatory in less than 2 min. The Mirador can also be reached with a 300m long independent public pedestrian access, situated inside the Collserola park, that gives you an opportunity to enjoy a pleasant walk on fresh air.
The visitors’ entrance leads you the telecommunications complex through a visitors’ tunnel. There is a reception, coffee machines and toilets on the inside. The Mirador is then reached with elevator, a ride that offers you a magnificent view of Barcelona and the coastline. In the Mirador the visitors’ area is circular, protected with glass and air conditioned, with capacity for over 100 persons.
